MBC bares semifinali­sts in national choral meet

Manila Broadcasti­ng Company and Star City have announced the list of choirs that qualified for the 2017 MBC National Choral Competitio­n to be held on December 5-9 at the Aliw Theater.

Defending champion Boscorale leads qualifiers in the children’s division, which include Bitik Children’s Choir, Junior SPCP Chorale, Himig ni Juan, Manresa Grade School Glee Club, Psaig Cathplic College, Bacarra Young Voices, Araullo High Schoo, Ligao National High School Children’s Chorus, Ateneo de Iloilo Treble Chorus, San Nicolas National High School Serenata Cghorale, Corpus Christi School Children’s Choir, Pavia National High School, Tarlac National High School, Iloilo City National High School, and Himig Cauayeño.

The open category will be hotly contested by the Oratory Boys Chorus, Kinaadman Chorale, South Cotabato Chorale, St. Scholastic­a’s Academy Marikina Glee Club, UE Chorale, FEU Chorale, Coro Regina Coeli, Tarlac Chamber Choir, Letran Singing Ambassador­s, the RD Choral Ensemble, Musica Paulinos, the DMMMSU-SLUB Camerata, Coro Obcernto, EARIST AmangAwit, Koro Dabawenyo, St. Paul College Pasig High School Glee Club, the Adamson University Chorale, Wesleyan Chamber Singers, Quezon Science Madriagl Virtuosos, ICP Charismati­c Chorale, Coro di Congregati­o Immaculati Cordis Mariae, PUP Bagong Himig Serenata, Himig Rizalia, Kawity Singing Ambassador­s, Bulacan Master Chorale, the Avant Garde Singers, Nueva Ecija Singing Ambassador­s, and the Second Chronicle Singers.

The 2017 MBC National Choral Competitio­n is made possible by the generous support of Columbia Internatio­nal Products, Inc, Sosro Fruit Tea, 555 Tuna, JRS Express, and Dunkin’ Donuts.

Winners of the semifinal rounds will compete in the grand finals on December 10, with the champion choirs taking home over ₱100,000 in cash and kind. The public is invited to watch on all five days. Showtime is at 7 pm. Admission is free.
