New TNVS applications tatanggapin
“We want to push TNVS (transport network vehicle services) to stay on the roads, longer.”
This was the statement of Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board chairman, lawyer Martin Delgra III, as he announced yesterday that they will accept again new TNVS applications starting Feb. 5.
The decision came more than a year after the LTFRB suspended TNVS applications in July 2016.
Earlier, the board issued Memorandum Circular No. 2018003 ordering the establishment of a common supply base of 45,000 TNVS units in Metro Manila.
“In the memorandum circular that the board already issued which is effective February 3, Saturday, the start of acceptance of new TNVS applications will be on February 5, Monday,” announced the chairman in a press conference at the LTFRB main office in Quezon City.
Based on the data of the LTFRB, the almost 14,000 TNVS with valid and existing Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) to operate, as well as those with pending applications will be part of the common supply base.
With this, at least 30,000 of the 45,000 slots of transport network vehicles in Metro Manila remain vacant.
According to Delgra, the board’s decision to accept new TNVS applications is to fill the gap and complete the common supply base.
The LTFRB chief also shared that they are already in the peak of preparations in putting up a onestop shop for applications of TNVS franchises.
LTFRB technical division head Joel Bolano, advised applicants to come with complete requirements.
The basic requirements for application of TNVS franchise, Bolano said, are proofs of Filipino citizenship, garage space, financial capability, and publication, as well as inspection report.
