Village chair killed in ambush
KIDAPAWAN CITY – Unidentified gunmen shot dead a village chief along with his aide in Carmen, North Cotabato, around 11 p.m., Friday. Superintendent Bernard Tayong, spokesperson for the Cotabato Police Provincial Office (CPPO), identified the victims as Renato Ortiz, chairman of Barangay General Luna in Carmen, North Cotabato; and a Reynaldo Nobleza, a resident of Barangay General Luna who was working as his personal aide. Tayong said the victims were on their way home onboard a motorcycle when waylaid by the suspects at Sitio Tapulon, Barangay General Luna. Robbery is being considered as prime motive behind the killing, with the bag Ortiz was carrying, said to contain P100, 000, now missing.
