Lady caught while sniffing shabu beside own baby

A drug suspect was slain while a woman who was allegedly using illegal drugs in front of her infant child was arrested in separate police operations in Quezon and Laguna provinces respectively, police reported Sunday.

Newly installed Calabarzon Police Regional Office (PRO-4A) Director Edward Carranza identified the slain suspect as Dom Ibañez of Barangay. Cotta, Lucena, Quezon; while apprehended was Marissa Cordoviz alias Xaxa of Barangay Tagapo, Santa Rosa, Laguna.

Ibañez was shot dead by elements of Lucena City Police Station (LCPS) and Quezon Provincial Police Intelligence Branch (QPPIB) who conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Cotta at 4:15 a.m.today.

Lucena police said Ibañez sold a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to a police poseur-buyer.

However, when backup troops were about to apprehend Ibañez, he suddenly fired shots at the lawmen and tried to flee, police added.

Police said operating troops retaliated which resulted in the death of Ibañez while there were no casualties nor injuries on the part of the lawmen.

Confiscated from Ibañez were a caliber .38 revolver, a heat-sealed plastic sachet with suspected illegal drugs, and the ₱1,000 marked money.

Meanwhile, Cordoviz was arrested by elements of Santa Rosa City Police Station who served a search warrant at her house around 8:20 p.m. yesterday.

Santa Rosa City Police said Cordoviz was caught in the act while sniffing suspected shabu while her 11-month-old child was sleeping inside their house.

It was later learned that Cordoviz was separated because her husband left her due to her alleged illegal drugs activities.

Police said Cordoviz yielded two plastic sachets with suspected shabu and various drug paraphernalia.

She was brought to Santa Rosa City Police detention facility and will be charged with possession and using of illegal drugs under the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, Cordoviz’ child was turned over to the local Social Welfare Development office in Santa Rosa City for custody.
