ADAMSON FACES LA SALLE TODAY

- By WAYLON GALVEZ

Games Today (Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City) 2 p.m. – UE vs NU 4 p.m. – Adamson vs La Salle

Adamson University head coach Franz Pumaren said they have to go back to what they are doing before if they intend to get back on the winning track.

“We have to go back to what we’re doing,” said Pumaren yesterday. “The last time we played we didn’t do the things we’re supposed to do against FEU, and for all of us, it was a learning experience.”

Their resolve to bounce back from a defeat will be tested when they play the La Salle Archers today in the 81st UAAP men’s basketball at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City.

The game between Adamson and La Salle – a rematch of last season’s Finals Four won by the Green Archers when they edged the Falcons 82-75 – is set at 4 p.m., right after the 2 p.m. match of bottom teams with similar 1-5 cards University of the East and National University.

Adamson is coming off a heartbreaking 88-85 loss to Far Eastern University last Sunday, the team’s first setback this season after its went 5-0 – the school’s best start in years.

Despite the setback, Adamson regained its position as the No. 1 team in the team standings after FEU ended Ateneo’s five-game win streak with a 63-60 victory last Wednesday that tied the Tamaraws and the Blue Eagles for second and third places with similar 5-2 cards.

Nevertheless, the Falcons will be aiming for a win for a firm grip at the lead and avoid a three-way tie with FEU and Ateneo entering the second round of the UAAP starting tomorrow.

Pumaren pointed to his team’s poor start against FEU. Though they rallied back behind Sean Manganti and Jerrick Ahanmisi, Pumaren said the Falcons were out of character that led to their first defeat.
