DAVAO CITY – The Task Force Bangon Marawi through the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) has vowed to finish the Marawi rehabilitation in 2021.

In a press briefing, HUDCC secretary general Marcelino Escalada Jr. said that his office along with other government agencies tasked by Task Force Bangon Marawi already made a timeline for its completion.

“The timeline of 34 months we can really achieve it. In less than three years we shall be able to rehabilitate Marawi,” Escalada said.

Escalada said there will be multiple procurement and project implementation so that it will hasten the rehabilitation process

He said the whole Marawi rehabilitation has a total ₱14 billion budget in which the implementation of all infrastructure projects and others will be divided into three tranches.

Escalada said every tranches of Marawi’s recovery will have priority projects to be done in every year.

He said the first tranche will start by January next test in which the priority of these projects are debris management, master development plan with feasibility study, construction of sewage treatment plant, port facilities, wharves recovery, land acquisition, sanitary landfill and the construction of Grand Padian Central Market.

In 2020, Escalada said the task force will work on road infrastructure with underground facilities which includes storm drainage system, water supply system, power supply system and telecommunication facilities.
