LTFRB employee fired over alleged corruption

- (Alexandria San Juan)

An employee of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) was fired for allegedly receiving money in exchange for faster processing of documents, the agency said Thursday.

Both the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the LTFRB have decided to terminate Richard Vallecer, assigned to the message center of the LTFRB Central Office in Quezon City, due to illegal transactions.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said that an applicant presented two deposit slips amounting to a total of ₱45,000, which was verified to have been deposited to the account of Vallecer.

Vallecer, on the other hand, admitted to LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III that he had received payments amounting to ₱15,000,

₱20,000, and ₱25,000 in exchange for facilitation of several applications.

According to Tugade, Vallecer’s admission to multiple illegal transactions constitutes a violation of Section 3 of Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, and Section 7 (D) of Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

The DOTr chief reiterated its warning to officials and employees of the department and its attached agencies that sanctions await them should they engage in corrupt practices.
