Mister World contest set
THE Mister World pageant which is scheduled to be staged in the Philippines for the first time will be held on June 10.
This was announced by Arnold Vegafria, national director of Miss World Philippines and Mister World Philippines contests, Tuesday.
The Mister World contest, organized by the Miss World Organization in London, was initially scheduled to be held here in January 2019.
Then it was moved to March 2019. Now it will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on June 10.
Vegafria said that the new schedule will give the national directors enough time for their delegates to prepare for the international competition.
“The national directors needed a break because of the series of pageants that happened the past year. And they want a very qualified candidate of each country that’s why they requested if they can do it in June. Now it will be June 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena,” Vegafria said.
Actor JB Saliba, 25, of Olongapo City, is the country’s representative to the Mister World contest this year. Since the inception of Mister World contest in 1996, no Filipino has won the title.
So far, the highest placement the Philippines has reached in the international competition was first runner-up won by Filipino-British Rugby player-actor Andrew Wolff.
The Mister World contest is the third international pageant to be held in the Philippines this year after Miss Intercontinental (January) and Mister International (February).
