Police Officer 2 Ferr Henrick Mangarin has withdrawn his complaint against an Iranian woman who beat him up last Sunday in Puerto Galera, Mindoro Occidental.

Mangarin executed an affidavit of desistance against the Iranian tourist who has been found out to be suffering from Bipolar 1 Disorder, a mental illness, according to Supt. Socrates Faltado, regional police spokesman.

The woman burned the arm of Mangarin with a lit cigarette, punched and kicked him when the policeman tried to pacify her.

The parents of the Iranian disclosed their daughter’s condition, later confirmed by the findings of local physicians who examined her.

Based on the report from the Puerto Galera police, the policemen on duty was alarmed after observing that the Iranian had not slept since her detention on Feb. 17 and kept on talking to herself in Arabic.

The policemen on-duty then saw hematoma and contusions on her hands, which prompted them to seek medical attention from the nearby Puerto Galera Municipal Health Office.

The mental health condition of the victim was confirmed by her friend, an Iranian dive instructor, who told the police that her parents were appealing for understanding.

Based on parents’ revelation, their daughter received medical treatment in Iran in March last year.

Faltado said that the Puerto Galera police was instructed to wait for the medicine of the Iranian woman.

“The family of the Iranian, thru a voice call translated by her friend, requested that their daughter remain in the custody of the station pending for the arrival of help from the Iranian Embassy to produce an urgent visa,” said Faltado.

As of yesterday, Faltado said that the Iranian woman is on stable condition. He said that the local police were instructed to properly turn her over to the Iranian Embassy officials.
