PETA PLAY – Before anything else, showbiz lingo is more rhyme than reason. Not meant to offend.

Read that PETA is mounting a play titled “Charot.” In showbiz lingo, “charot” means not to be taken seriously, “bola lang.” But then like all PETA plays, “Charot” is relevant, meaningful – tackling federalism.

This columnist remembers that in years past, the equivalent of “charot” is “etchos lang,” Taken after the column of the late Justo C. Justo in The Sun, shortened to “chos” and “etching.” By the way, “charot” may also be substituted with “charing.” • MORE AND MORE – “Charot” triggers more and more examples of showbiz lingo.
