Not the end of…

-

BOTHERED – Vickie Rushton of Negros Occidental, the Manila Bulletin reader’s choice is a dazzler. Shapely and pretty. Too bad that she didn’t do well in the Q&A portion. Vickie failed to win one of the six

Bb. Pilipinas titles.

Learned Vickie was bothered by some people in the audience who heckled and made faces at her. She wasn’t able to answer fully the question…something about mental and emotional health.

But to be fair her answer was sensible. In fact host Anne Curtis whispered she did okay.

Pia Wurtzbach reportedly assured Vickie not to lose heart as it was not the end of the pageant world for her. Pia spoke from experience, winning the Bb. Pilipinas crown on her third try and eventually snagging the Miss Universe crown itself.

Vickie is the girlfriend of Jason Abalos, a fine actor, an Urian awardee for

“Endo.” Perhaps Vickie could try the movies.

EYE FOR – Highspeed contributor Mel Caparas has an eye for winners.

He chose 20 Top Picks among the Bb. Pilipinas hopefuls. Well, all eight winners (including two runners-up) were on his list.

The six titles: Misses Universe, International, Supranational, Grand International, Intercontinental, and Globe. •

GONE, GONE, GONE – Three dear friends are gone, gone, gone. Layout artist Vic Delotavo suffered a heart attack at his home in Santa Rosa, Laguna. Vic also contributed political cartoons to leading dailies and magazines.

Also gone are the brothers Hernando. Filmmaker, production designer, and UP professor Cesar and writer and film critic Mario.

Cesar, who died of a lingering illness, was the designer of two books published by Danny Dolor, ‘Golden Years” and the biography of Carmen Rosales penned by Manny Fernandez.

Mario, who died much earlier of cancer, was one of the founders and chairmen of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino. He was features and managing editor of Malaya.
