PAGASA warns more monsoon rains coming

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration warned of more monsoon rains over parts of Northern and western Luzon this weekend.

The moisture-laden southwest monsoon or “habagat” will bring scattered to widespread rains over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, and Zambales.

PAGASA warned residents in these areas, especially those living in lowlying and mountainous areas, against possible flash floods and landslides.

It also advised public and disaster risk reduction and management offices in areas affected by monsoon rains to take appropriate actions and continue monitoring for official PAGASA updates.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Rains, especially during severe thunderstorms, could also trigger flash floods or landslides over low-lying and mountainous areas, PAGASA warned.

The weather bureau said rains will gradually ease tomorrow.

By Tuesday, cloudy periods with rains will be experienced over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, La Union, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Bataan, Zambales, Cavite, Batangas, and Metro Manila.

The intertropical convergence zone will prevail over Mindanao and the rest of the country will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
