SCALNG NEW HEIGHTS

- By NEIL RAMOS

THE show must go on for veteran news anchor Mike Enriquez despite ongoing health battle.

Apart from having undergone quadruple bypass, he is now receiving dialysis treatment three times a week. Shouldn’t he be simply “I did that,” Mike retoed. “‘Diba matagal akong nawala? It’s no secret naman na siguro but I’m good.”

“May kasabihan sa English na 'listen to your body.’ Well, I do that, and feel I am extremely well.”

But what if he is wrong Mike countered, “Wala naman akong ginagawa na walang clearance ng doktor at hindi ako gagawa ng kahit na ano na hindi alam at walang pahintulot ng aking doktor."

In any case, Mike is hoping he would be able to do away with his dialysis treatment once and for all.

He said, “Kasi sa mga hindi nakakaalam, kapag dinada-dialysis ka parang binubugbog, nanlalata ka. Hindi lang iyon, para ka din lutang eh, ang dami kong ginagawa ‘diba? So, mahirap.”

Mike shared he is looking towards having a kidney transplant in the future.

“Pinag-aaralan ng mga doktor ko ‘yung possibility. Parang bago na raw lahat kapag makidney transplant ako at hindi na kailangang i-dialysis pa.”

All that said, Mike is more focused in leading Dobol B sa News TV to new frontiers.

“The good news is that GMA management decided we should now air Mondays to Sundays at 6 a.m. to 12 noon so, it is a big leap for us and we are more than excited to make our line-up of show more exciting for our audiences,” he said.

Jumpstarting weekday mornings is Melo del Prado with the freshest news of the day on “Melo Del Prado sa Super Radyo DZBB” at 6 a.m.

Mike and Joel Reyes Zobel then deliver the biggest news stories on “Super Balita sa Umaga Nationwide” at 7 a.m.

Mike continues with “Saksi sa Dobol B” at 8 a.m. while Joel returns at 9a.m. with “Anong Say N’yo?”

At 9:30 a.m., Arnold Clavio together with Ali Sotto tickle viewers and listeners’ minds through juicy blind items in “Sino?”

At 10 a.m., the tandem further dissects newsworthy issues on “Dobol A Sa Dobol B.”

At 11 a.m., “Kay Susan Tayo! Sa Super Radyo DZBB,” anchored by Susan Enriquez, returns to the small screen.

On Saturdays, Melo hosts “Super Radyo Nationwide” at 6 a.m. followed by “Super Balita sa Umaga” with Sam Nielsen and Rowena Salvacion at 7 a.m.

In the next hour, Rowena anchors “Isyu Atbp.” while “I M Ready sa Dobol B,” with Nathaniel ‘Mang Tani’ Cruz, comes next at 9 a.m.

One of the newest additions to DZBB is “Pinoy M.D. sa Super Radyo DZBB,” as hosted by Connie Sison at 10 a.m. It is followed by “DZBB Super Serbisyo: Buhay, Trabaho at Negosyo” at 11 a.m.

On Sundays, Orly Trinidad opens with “Buena Manong Balita” at 6 a.m., followed by “Super Balita sa Umaga,” at 7 a.m.

“Dobol B: Bantay Balita (Bantay sa Senado)” follows at 8 a.m.

At 9 a.m., viewers can catch Benjie Liwanag’s “Liwanag sa Balita” followed by Divine Reyes’ “Dobol B: Bantay Balita (Bantay sa Kamara).”

From 11 a.m. until 12 noon, Orly returns with “MMDA sa GMA.”

“Tuloy-tuloy ang paghahatid namin ng ‘Serbisyong Totoo’ dahil araw-araw na ninyong mapapanood ang Dobol B sa News TV at sa mas pinahabang oras pa. This is all for our loyal Kapuso viewers who made the success of Dobol B sa News TV possible,” said Mike.
