Farm caretaker electrocut­ed

TIAONG, Quezon – A poultry farm caretaker died of electrocut­ion while he was trimming a mahogany tree in a farm at Sitio Silangan, Barangay Ayusan 2, this town, Wednesday morning.

According to municipal councilor Eula Lopez, the victim Jessie Magalo, 45, the incident took place at around 9:30 a.m.

Lopez said the victim climbed up the mahogany tree to cut off some branches that interfere the power lines. He, however, accidental­ly hit a live electrical wire.

Due to electric shock, the victim was trapped on the branches of the tall tree.

The victim was brought down by responding members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) but he was already dead.

Lopez said the victim left behind his four young children, the youngest is eight years old; and his wife, a person with disabiliti­es (PWD).

The victim had served in the farm for a long time, according to police.
