Gensan imposes lockdown, liquor ban

GENERAL SANTOS CITY Local authorities have undertaken stringent health protocols due to the alarming surge of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease cases in the city and nearby towns.

With more than 300 active cases and some 90 fatalities already, Mayor Ronnel Rivera issued an executive order, imposing total liquor ban, expanding curfew from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. and declaring lockdown during Sundays which began May 16 until May 31.

The city’s new cases had also placed in jeopardy the health capacity of the local hospitals.
