Feeling OFW

TRAILER

- NESTOR CUARTERO

There was a time, JC Santos recalls, when he seriously thought of packing his bags and settling down abroad at the start of the pandemic.

He had no job. His projects hang in the air. He had just become a dad to a baby girl.

JC admitted he seriously thought of moving his small family to Perth, Australia, where his wife’s family is based.

The former theater actor says he was ready to become an OFW once again for the sake of his own family.

JC was only 16 when he was hired as a performer at Universal Studios in Singapore, a stint that led him to another contract at Disneyland Hong Kong.

His plan to halt his acting career in Manila changed somewhat when offers poured in.

One of these, coincidentally, is a movie where he’s to play an OFW in Qatar called “The Eventologist.” It is the initial movie offering of Advocacy Global Studio.

The entire movie is inspired by real events, with principal photography to be done entirely in Qatar.

The project is a semi-documentary. Writer-director Oscar de Jesus Yema, a longtime OFW, is a local TV veteran. His credits include “Inside Story,” “Hoy, Gising!” and “Brigada Siete.”
