Amores suspended
John Amores, the controversial player of Jose Rizal University being a war freak, was suspended indefinitely by the NCAA.
The oldest collegiate league in the country suffered a double black eye Tuesday when Amores run amok and attacked the bench of their rival squad – College of St. Benilde – where he threw punches at several players that shocked basketball fans of all ages.
On the recommendation of Commissioner Tonichi Pujante, the JRU forward got the heftiest penalty while others were handed light penalties.
NCAA Mancom member Fr. Vic Calvo of Letran announced Amores’ indefinite suspension, saying: “Violence has no place in the NCAA. The Mancom condemns and will not tolerate any acts of violence that will endanger our athletes, participants officials supporters and the public. The safety of everyone is our primordial concern.” Slapped with two games suspensions were CSB’S Mark Sangco and Chris Flores and JRU’S William Sy and Ryan Arenal.
Sy also gets an added onegame ban for entering the playing court together with Jason Tan, Joshua Guiab, Jason Celis, Marwin Dionisio, Marc Abaoag, Jonathan Medina, Karl De Jesus, and Christian Gonzales, as well as CSB’S Ladis Lepalam.
Meantime, Mapua routed Arellano, 67-47, to extend its winning run to four games and 6th overall in 15 games.
Juaqui Garcia led the Cardinals' balanced attack with 13 points while Adrian Nocum performed well on both ends of the floor with 10 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
