- (Dhel Nazario)

An alleged gunrunner was killed in a shootout with members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR) during a buy-bust operation in Tunasan, Muntinlupa City, last Friday.

The suspect, Angelo Garcia alias Bunso, 21, a resident of Tales Compound, Parañaque City, died on the spot.

Garcia’s unidentified cohort managed to escape, police said.

Investigation showed that CIDGNCR personnel conducted a drug sting against the suspects on Don Pedro Reyes Avenue at Victoria Homes, Tunasan, Muntinlupa City.

A police officer acted as the poseur-buyer while the other cops stood as his backup.

Police said the two suspects arrived at the place of the transaction onboard a motorcycle.

Garcia, however, sensed that they were negotiating with police officers, prompting him to pull out his .45-caliber gun and shoot the operating team.

The police officers were able to take cover and a brief gunfight with the suspects ensued.

Garcia was killed while his cohort fled on board a motorcycle without plate number.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SoCO) recovered from the crime scene a .45-caliber pistol loaded with four bullets, six fired cartridge cases and one fired bullet.
