Quake shakes Davao Occ.
BUTUAN CITY – A 4.6 magnitude earthquake shook Davao Occidental province early Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
However, the state agency reported no damage or injury.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was registered at 3:12 a.m.
The epicenter was plotted 429 kilometers (km) southeast of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
The earthquake has 101 km depth, it said.
The state agency said the tremor was tectonic in origin and no aftershock or tsunami is expected.
On Friday, a tectonic 4.3 magnitude earthquake was also recorded at 6:20 p.m
The epicenter was traced 53 km northeast of the Pacific Ocean facing the town of Burgos, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte province, with a shallow depth of only 6 km, Phivolcs also added, in its bulletin.
The Davao Occidental and Surigao del Norte Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils reported no damage or injury from these new tremors that struck the said provinces on early Friday evening and early Saturday morning.
