Quake shakes Davao Occ.

BUTUAN CITY – A 4.6 mag­ni­tude earth­quake shook Davao Oc­ci­den­tal prov­ince early Satur­day morn­ing, the Philip­pine In­sti­tute of Vol­canol­ogy and Seis­mol­ogy (Phivolcs) said.

How­ever, the state agency re­ported no dam­age or in­jury.

In its bul­letin, Phivolcs said the tremor was reg­is­tered at 3:12 a.m.

The epi­cen­ter was plot­ted 429 kilo­me­ters (km) south­east of Sarangani, Davao Oc­ci­den­tal.

The earth­quake has 101 km depth, it said.

The state agency said the tremor was tec­tonic in ori­gin and no af­ter­shock or tsunami is ex­pected.

On Fri­day, a tec­tonic 4.3 mag­ni­tude earth­quake was also recorded at 6:20 p.m

The epi­cen­ter was traced 53 km north­east of the Pa­cific Ocean fac­ing the town of Bur­gos, Siar­gao Is­land, Suri­gao del Norte prov­ince, with a shal­low depth of only 6 km, Phivolcs also added, in its bul­letin.

The Davao Oc­ci­den­tal and Suri­gao del Norte Dis­as­ter Risk Re­duc­tion and Man­age­ment Coun­cils re­ported no dam­age or in­jury from th­ese new tremors that struck the said provinces on early Fri­day evening and early Satur­day morn­ing.
