Catriona’s ‘We’re In This Together’ gets US airplay
REIGNING Miss Universe Catriona Gray’s debut single, “We’re In This Together,” was played on US radio two months after it was released November last year.
Note the song, which was meant to benefit a local charity, never played on Philippine radio even after Gray was crowned 2018 Miss Universe in Bangkok, Thailand last Dec. 17.
On Jan. 12, the song was finally played on Sirius XM Satellite Radio, a broadcasting company based in Midtown Manhattan in New York City.
“We’re In This Together’’ was played when the Filipino-Australian beauty queen dropped by the radio station for an interview as part of her current US media tour which kicked off Jan. 7.
“How I felt when @siriusxm @ swaysuniverse @realsway played my single #WereInThisTogether @youngfocusph for the first time on the radio. Fam, if you haven’t heard the single yet it’s on Spotify and iTunes and the music video link is in my BIO,” wrote Gray on Instagram on Jan. 12.
The fourth Miss Universe from the Philippines has a Master’s Certificate in Music Theory from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
“Were In This Together,” written and composed by Marcus Davis was produced by Young Focus International, a non-profit organization that works in supporting the education, nutrition, and social welfare of children.
The song is available in all digi- tal platforms worldwide. All proceeds go straight to Young Focus Philippines.
Meanwhile, former supermodel-turnedtelevision host Tyra Banks admits she hasn’t gotten over the Lava Walk of the Filipino-Australian beauty queen.
“Can’t stop thinking about that #LavaWalk,” said Banks in her latest tweet which has been re-tweeted 1,561 times and garnered more than 11,000 likes on Jan. 10.
Banks wrote the tweet as reaction after Gray demonstrated the now iconic walk to host Stephen Walker during an appearance on the Celebrity Page Network in New York recently.
Gray was thrilled to receive a comment from Banks after the show.
“Tutoo ba ito! And when I read, ‘Oh my God!’ It’s just wow! And when one of the Indian newspapers published you’re walk, this is insane,” she said in an exclusive interview by MJ Marfori of TV5 in Bangkok.
Banks, host of the popular US reality show “America’s Next Top Model,” commented on Twitter: “I mean .... Pinoy Power to the Max!!!”
Vogue Magazine was also impressed with Gray’s Lava Walk. “It takes a lot for a pageant to feel fresh. The entire idea of a competition based primarily on looks is passé, but amid the spectacle of last night’s Miss Universe contest, something special happened. The night’s big winner, Catriona Gray, a 24year-old model who represented the Philippines, took to the stage and delivered a runway stomp worthy of fashion month,” a portion of the Vogue Magazine article read.
The article also said: “Memorable thanks to her confident stride and final twirl, the strut caught the attention of supermodel Tyra Banks, who retweeted the clip and added some America’s Next Top Model– esque commentary.” (Robert R.
