₱624,000 shabu seized in Davao City buy-bust
DAVAO CITY – The Davao City police Sta. Ana police station seized
₱624,000 worth of suspected shabu from two unemployed men in a buybust operation here Friday.
Davao City Police Office spokesperson Maria Teresita Gaspan identified the suspects as Joel Alcoriza, 43, of Guerrero, and Danny Villarta, 44, of Malagamot in Barangay Panacan here.
Gaspan said police launched a buybust operation in a car service shop on Dacudao Ave., Barangay Paciano, Bangoy upon validating the information on the illegal drug trade of the suspects in the area.
She said a police poseur agent managed to purchase from Alcoriza, accompanied by Villarta, a sachet of suspected shabu worth ₱1,000 around 4:35 p.m.
Gaspan said Alcoriza was nabbed as he was about to receive the marked money. Villarta was also arrested.
Upon frisking, 13 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 52 grams with a street value of ₱624,000 were seized from Alcoriza.
"The arrest of the suspects will paralyze if not terminate the circulation of illegal drugs within the area of Paciano Bangoy and neighboring barangays within the city, Guerrero, and some areas of Panacan," she said.
Gaspan said patrons of the suspect are mostly skilled workers. They are also distributing their items to other retailers, considering their quantity.
She said the suspect is considered a High Valued-Target due to the value of the drugs seized and charges will be filed against Alcoriza and Villarta for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Armando B. Fenequito Jr.)
