UP, AdU stars join D-L draft

Uni­ver­sity of the Philip­pines' Juan Gomez de Liano, Adam­son's Sean Man­ganti and Fil-Amer­i­can Joshua Mun­zon are among the 153 play­ers who have ap­plied for Tues­day's PBA D-League Rookie Draft.

De Liano and Man­ganti hope to bring their strong plays from the UAAP into the PBA's de­vel­op­men­tal tour­na­ment while Mun­zon is mak­ing his de­but af­ter play­ing two sea­sons for the Malaysia Drag­ons in the ASEAN Bas­ket­ball League.

Twenty teams are join­ing the D-League's 2019 sea­son which opens on Valen­tine's Day at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, with AMA On­line Ed­u­ca­tion pick­ing first.

Other no­table play­ers join­ing the draft are La Salle's Kib Mon­talbo and Santi San­til­lan, Ate­neo's An­ton Asis­tio, Far Eastern Uni­ver­sity's Jasper Parker, Na­tional Uni­ver­sity's Troy Rike, San Beda's AC Sober­ano, Arel­lano's Ian Al­ban and Jose Rizal Uni­ver­sity's Jed Men­doza.

Also join­ing the draft are Ma­pua's War­ren Boni­fa­cio, Cen­tro Es­co­lar Uni­ver­sity's Or­lan Wa­mar and CESAFI Most Valu­able Player Rey Suerte of the Uni­ver­sity of the Visayas.
