Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez on Friday signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with three cities which will host this year’s Batang Pinoy.

Saying that it is important to have a sustained grassroots development program, Ramirez said the government’s sport agency will be holding the event in three major islands of the country.

“We are very happy that we’re pushing through with the Batang Pinoy, and we’re thankful to LGUs (Local Government Unit) and this MOA signing is just a formality. This is good as go," said Ramirez during a press briefing at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.

Signing the MOA with Ramirez were city and provincial representatives Giovanni Gulanes of Davao del Norte, Moises Solomon of Iloilo City and Ricky Laggui of Ilagan City.

The first leg of the Batang Pinoy qualifiers is in Mindanao on Feb. 9-10 in Tagum City.
