Kevin Villafranca made a layup with four seconds left to lift the Cebu City Sharks past the Pampanga Lanterns, 69-68, on Saturday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at the Angeles City Foundation gym in Pampanga.

Villafranca grabbed the offensive rebound after a missed jumper from Victor Nuñez to deliver the clutch basket and give the Sharks a ninth win against 11 losses in the South Division.

It was the third straight win

for the Sharks, who also banked on Patrick Cabahug and the all-around plays of William Bill McAloney.

Cabahug paced with 20 points while McAloney fired 10 points and hauled 13 rebounds.

Villafranca, meanwhile, finished with seven points, seven boards and two assists in 13 minutes of action.

The Lanterns skidded to their second straight defeat for 7-12 with Michael Juico finishing with 22 points in a losing effort.
