Cebu artists open exhibit at J Centre
Members of the Cebu Artists Inc. opened their first exhibit for the year at J Centre, Cebu’s upcoming shopping and dining destination located in A.S. Fortuna, Mandaue City.
Dubbed as “Cultural Confluence 5,” the exhibit featured the paintings of renowed Cebuano artists such as Celso duazo pepito, Darby Alcoseba and Sonia Yrastorza. Guest artists from Davao, Lito pepito and Josie Tionko also joined the exhibit. Foreign artists from Malaysia and France namely janiz Chan, Queenie Chow, Aida Uy sze, julbert maranaon, Remy Rault and Bruno Didier were also part of the exhibit.
Guests of Honor for the opening night were Cebu City Councilor Margot V. Osmeña, wellrespected entrepreneur Jay Aldeguer, renowned fashion designer Cary Santiago and the dynamic general manager of J Centre Mall, Mr. Jerry Uy. A short program completed the opening night, with a rationale delivered by Celso Duazo Pepito where he shared with the audience how the Cultural Confluence series started and the places they have gone to and what the exhibit aims, which is to showcase the cultural immersion in the communities where they so belong.
Cebu Artists Inc.’s president, Ms. Sonia Yrastorza gave a brief introduction of each participating artist and their background. Cebu City Councilor Hon. Margot V. Osmeña shared an inspirational message where she told them that Cebu is very proud to have created renowned artists like themselves. To end the program, the guests of honors initiated the ribbon cutting to officially open the Cultural Confluence 5.
The next Cultural Confluence series will be held this coming September 2012 in New York. Other Cebuano artists who are part of Cebu Artists Inc are Fe Madrid Pepito, Karren Pepito, Cesar Castillo, Pronnie dela Cerna, John Dinglasa, Guido Maria Lubanga, Renulo Pautan and Rocky Sandalo.
The exhibit is open for public viewing at the 2nd floor of J Centre Mall from 10: 00 AM to 9: 00 PM daily.
