Grand & Jai tops elims in FYA caging

Team Grand & Jai booted out Leo Lauron, 100- 90, to emerge as eliminatio­n round topnotcher in the 4th F. Llamas Youth Associatio­n ( FYA) basketball tournament at the Brgy. Tisa gym.

Grand & Jai led by former USJ- R Jaguar Baeng Medalle finished the qualifying phase with a 4-1 win-loss record. In sharp contrast, Leo Lauron is still without a win in four starts.

Louie Pacunas topscored for Grand & Jai with 21 points, while Michael Palo and Calbert Malicay both finished with 22 points for Leo Lauron.

Earlier, Steven Jocabz defeated Chariz & Caleigh, 85-80, to earn a share of the second spot with Simple Likes Barbecue Haus. The two squads will clash in a knockout match tonight, with the winner taking the No.2 spot and a twice- to- beat advantage going into the next round.

Chariz & Caleigh, on the other hand, will take on CMK Trading for the fourth and last semifinal berth.

Dexter Caballero fired 23 points for Steven Jocabz, but it was the crucial steal of Novelito Mirasol against Chissar Llegunas that assured them of the victory. Mirasol chipped in 17 markers.
