The Cebu leg of the longestablished National Age- Group Triathlon ( NAGT) Series will push through as scheduled at Plantation Bay Resort and Spa on March 31 to April 1.

The organizers were earlier considering another venue because of the ongoing road construction in Marigondon area where the world- class resort is located.

But since there is no other place as suitable as Plantation Bay for the event to be staged, the organizers decided to stick to their original plan.

Plantation Bay had long been hosting triathlon events, providing the enthusiasts of the three-inone sport with a venue that’s like no other.

Also, Plantation Bay through its general manager Efren Belarmino has consistently shown its commitment as a solid partner of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) in the development of the sport here.

For this year’s edition, the organizers will be introducing a special category for kids on March 31. The super tri kids features different age brackets: 7-under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-15.

TRAP has added more categories for the young ones with hopes of spotting athletes who are potential enough to carry the country's colors in the next Asian Youth Games in China.

The young triathletes will have to deal with a 350meter swim, 16-kilometer bike, and a 3.3-kilometer run just around the resort area.

The regular NAGT action, on the other hand, will take place on April 1.

Among the age-group categories to be contested are 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 3034, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 5054, 55-59, and 60-above for the men's division and 1619, 20-29, 30-39, and 40above in the distaff side.

They will go through a grueling race covering 1K swim, 30K bike and 7.5K run.

For those who want to know more about triathlon especially the kids, a clinic will be held on March 2930 also at Plantation Bay. It is open for free to the super tri kids entries.

Registration is now going on at Runnr and Speedo in Ayala Center Cebu.
