Cebu Sports Fest open to other venues

This year’s Cebu Sports Fest and Expo scheduled to be held from May 17 to 20 will not only be limited to the South Road Properties (SRP) grounds as it will also be held in other venues within Cebu City.

With this developmen­t, Cebu City Sports Commission­er Brian Lim is expecting that more organizati­ons will join the four-day event.

“Any sports groups who want to join are welcome to do so. Cebu Fest is not limited only to SRP. Once approved, they will be included in our official lineup of activities,” said Lim, who is also the Cebu Sports Fest chairman.

Interested parties may e-mail their intent to be part of the annual affair at cebusports­fest@gmail.com. Aside from the letter, they are also required to provide a brief history of their organizati­on, a high resolution logo, schedule of activities, field location and contact informatio­n not later than March 22.

So far, among the sporting discipline­s that have been lined up are motocross, wakeboard and wakeskate, kite surfing, flag football, softball, baseball, rugby, dancesport, wallclimbi­ng, ultimate frisbie, football, boxing,mixed martial arts, beach volley, airsoft, taekwondo, parkour, capoiera, yoga, zumba, fire poi and a sundown run.

The Cebu Sports Fest 2012 also serves as the culminatin­g activity of CCSC’S three- month grassroots summer program for arnis, table tennis, basketball, batted sports, chess, dancesport, athletics, gymnastics, swimming, several contact sports and volleyball.

This year’s event also includes a sports symposium featuring sports medicine, sports nutrition, and sports psychology at the Sinulog Hall of Rizal Library on May 18.
