1 dead, 1 injured in two road mishaps

A man died while a woman was injured in two road accidents involving motorcycles yesterday.

Ruel Inoc, 38, of Consolacion town died after a Ceres Bus hit him while driving his motorcycle on his way to work.

The mishap occurred in Barangay Estaca, Compostela.

Inoc was going to Cebu Mitsumi Inc. in barangay Sabang, Danao City while the Ceres Bus driven by Ronilio Alarde was on the opposite side of the road heading for Cebu City.

PO2 Fedilito Jopia, of the Compostela Police Station, said Alarde overtook the vehicle in front of him and collided with Inoc.

Inoc was thrown off the motorcycle, pinned under the bus and dragged several meters away.

Inoc died on the spot due to severe injuries in different parts of his body.

Alarde is now detained at the Compostela police stockade while charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to properties are being prepared.

In the afternoon, a motocycle was hit by a multicab at the South Road Properties that injured Novilyn Luna, 38.

Luna was thrown off the motorcycle driven by Rene Barrientos.

City Traffic Operations Management ( CITOM) reports showed that the multicab and the motocycle were both heading for Barangay Mambaling.

Barrientos suddenly stopped and was accidentally hit by the multicab that was tailing them driven by Michael Asoy.

Luna, who fell unconscious after the impact, was brought to a hospital in Cebu City.—
