MX3 joins Tacloban’s “Sangyaw Festival”

-

MX3 visited Tacloban City recently to witness the “Sangyaw Festival 2012”, a socioeconomic activity that aims to continually boost the city’s eco- tourism and self- identity as one of Region 8’ s fast progressing cities.

“Sangyaw,” which means to herald good news in Waray language, gave a wonderful purpose to Taclobanons in doing away with Pintados Festival. Sangyaw festival was originally created around 1974 during Marcos’ era, initiated by Ms. Imelda Marcos, who by the way is a Leyte native, and then has been successfully revived in 2008 by the Romualdez administration after more than 20 years of being sidestepped when Marcos administration has been booted out in the scene.

This year, the Sangyaw festival has been made even grander. Instead of just the usual fluvial parade and street dances, the City Government of Tacloban also launched the very first Parade of Lights, which featured Tacloban City’s history, religiosity, flora and fauna and recent city developments: the preSpanish colonization era, the discovery of the Philippines by Ferdinand Magellan, the landing of Douglas McArthur, the construction of the San Juanico Bridge and the conversion of Tacloban into a highly- urbanized city.

Given the spectacular feast for the eyes, GMA and MX3 came to Tacloban to provide total entertainment and happiness to the residents. The GMA stars serenaded and played with the audience, while MX3 gave away products to those who participated during the game. Before the show started, MX3 gave away fliers, MX3 product samples and a Christian booklet. Truly, MX3 didn’t just provide good health information, but also brought up the Good News for spiritual health.
