Charlie ‘ Steelbar’ Cabilla (12-10, 2KOS) of Bukidnon has vowed to pull a major surprise when he battles the highly favored Vergilio ‘ Maton’ Silvano ( 11- 2, 6KOS) for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation ( PBF) light flyweight title headlining the first installment of the ' Fight Fury' boxing series on July 29 at the J Centre Convention Hall along A. S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue City.

Things wouldn't be that easy though for Cabilla as he is coming from two successive defeats.

Cabilla got the biggest break of his budding career when he fought for the WBC Youth flyweight belt last January, but lost by third round knockout to Thai Petch Sor Chitpattana.

Five months later, Cabilla vied for the Philippine 108- pound crown but fell prey at the hands of ALA Boxing Gym mainstay Jerson Mancio.

Now that he is faced with yet another tough challenge, Cabilla aims to score a decisive victory to put his career back on the right track.

“I trained hard for this fight and I am really looking for a knockout,” said Cabilla.

For his part, the Dalaguete, Cebu- native Silvano is riding high on a 10- fight winning streak capped by a sixth round stoppage of Jonathan Ricablanca last May 11 in San Isidro, Leyte.

In the supporting bouts of the slambang card held in partnership with Omega Pro and Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha, Silvano’s stablemate and Phl No. 7 flyweight contender Jason Canoy will slug it out with Ryan Bongcawil of the Bukidnon - based Kaamino Stable, while Jack ‘ Golden Boy’ Tepora will take on JR Salvador of the PhilAust Boxing Club (PABC).

The rest of the card pits Jordan Catubay vs. Anthony Galigao; Jhaleel Payao vs. Rommel Bangirigo; and Charlie Pucdol vs. Jerome Casas.
