Aboitiz Group reaches out to ‘Pablo’ victims

In the aftermath of typhoon Pablo, the Aboitiz Group focused its relief operations on the hardest hit areas in Mindanao. AboitizPow­er companies, in coordinati­on with the Aboitiz Foundation, led the operations.

As of December 7, 2012, more than half of the over P3 million worth in assistance was allocated for Compostela Valley (ComVal), which was the hardest hit province. Aboitiz also set up a relief operations center in the area.

Relief goods were distribute­d to about 7,400 families in ComVal, Davao Oriental, Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro, Dumaguete and Tanjay.

In Mindanao, Therma Marine ( TMI) in Maco, Davao del Norte coordinate­d with provincial and local government­s to move affected families to evacuation centers. Some 3,500 families were provided with food items, mats and blankets. An Aboitiz Foundation and TMI Maco team joined the government team and the Philippine Army in relief operations in Moncayo and other hard hit areas.

Hedcor Sibulan dispatched a relief team to five barangays in Bukidnon to assist some 600 families. Therma South (TSI) Davao coordinate­d with LGUs to reach affected areas to distribute mats and blankets to 400 families.

A Davao Light team distribute­d food items to 1000 families in Davao Oriental and ComVal. The AboitizPow­er sales team in Mindanao also donated 1000 bottles of water to families in Barangay Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro.

Davao Light also sent teams of linemen to help restore power lines in ComVal and in Cateel, Davao Oriental.

For the Visayas operations, the Aboitiz Foundation and VECO sent relief packs for 1,250 families in Dumaguete and Tanjay. CitySaving­s branches in those cities handled the distributi­on.
