Cardinal Tagle spreads thanksgiving in Tondo
Newly installed Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle has apparently not yet run out of reasons for thanksgiving since returning from Rome, and at the weekend, spread joy with the church of the poor, in the heart of Manila in Tondo district, the InterAksiyon online reported yesterday.
According to InterAksiyon, Tagle’s themes: each one must be painfully aware of his gifts and use this to do God’s work, as Mary accepted the task of being the vessel through which Jesus became man; and in God’s eyes, the humble and the poor have a special place, and this is why He chose Mary, a young woman of very humble origins, to bear His son.
Tagle celebrated the thanksgiving Mass at the Sto. Niño de Tondo Parish Church on the Feast of the Immaculate Concepcion, one of the most important dates in the Catholic calendar.
Tagle, the youngest among seven new Cardinals who were officially installed in the College of Cardinals recently, said in his homily that each person is called upon to use his or her talent to respond to the mission set by God.
Last week, Tagle, 55, celebrated Mass at the San Fernando de Dilao Parish in Paco, Manila, attended by the top three leaders of the land: President Aquino, Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile.
At Saturday’s Tondo Mass, he was joined by Caritas Manila, the charity arm of the Archdiocese of Manila that has been actively organizing poor communities in various enterprises and other empowering activites.
