Like in the previous matches of Manny Pacquiao, even criminals were glued on their television sets and pay-per-view areas yesterday to watch the world boxing icon's fight with Juan Manuel Marquez.

Both Cebu City Police Office director Melvin Ramon Buenafe and Cebu Provincial Police Office director Patrocinio Comendador, Jr. said they didn't receive even a single report on crime incidents in the entire duration of the fight.

"Of course, the city was very peaceful because everyone was watching the match. There were no untoward incidents reported," Buenafe told reporters yesterday.

Even the roads were noticeably traffic-free during the fight and got jammed shortly after the match ended.

Occurrence of crimes usually drops during Pacquiao's fights, but Buenafe said, they continue to be vigilant.

Policemen gathered at the CCPO headquarters yesterday to watch the fight through pay- per- view, which Buenafe sponsored.

Buenafe joined his men and offered food.

He said, this is a sort of bonding with them.

He added he can easily dispatch them in case there is an alarm as they were already gathered at the headquarters.

Policemen were also deployed in the streets, establishment and other areas where people converged to watch the fight.

The rest of the Province of Cebu was also peaceful.

Comendador said not a single crime was reported from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. yesterday.

"I called on all chiefs of police to report but so far, wala ta'y nadawat nga panghitabo,"

Comendador said. -
