BICC holds general membership meet

The Bosconian Internatio­nal Chamber of Commerce Cebu (BICC Cebu) will hold its General Membership Meeting, Fellowship & Induction of Committee Chairmen and New Members today, March 6 at the Bamboo Bay Community along Hernan Cortes Street, Mandaue City.

The BICC Cebu, led by its Chairman, Board of Trustees, and President, Ludwig O Federigan, has invited Senator Teofisto D. Guingona III as its Guest Speaker and Inducting Officer. Sen Guingona III, TG for short, as he is called by friends and colleagues, will talk on “The Challenges of Good Governance and Ethical Leadership.”

TG is the third generation of public servants. His lolo, Teofisto Guingona Sr., served as the Governor of the entire Mindanao during the term of President Manuel Quezon during the 1930’s. His father, Teofisto “Tito” Guingona, Jr., has served as Chairman of the Commission on Audit, Senator, Executive Secretary, Secretary of Justice, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and Vice-President. His mother, Ruth de Lara, is the former Governor of Misamis Oriental and is presently the Mayor of Gingoog City.

TG served as Congressma­n of the Second District of Bukidnon during the 13th (2004-2007) and 14th Congress (2007-2010). In the Lower House, he was a member of the opposition and the minority group. He is the Deputy Minority floor leader and is the Minority representa­tive to the Joint Congressio­nal Power Commission (POWERCOM) which deals with matters relating to energy and electricit­y.

The BICC Cebu is an associatio­n of past pupils of Saint John Bosco who are businessme­n, entreprene­urs, corporate executives and profession­als. With a mission statement of “Inspired by the family spirit of Saint John Bosco and committing to the Bosconian values of work ethic, integrity, social responsibi­lity, and excellence, the BICC Cebu Chapter is a network of Bosconians in business and industry establishe­d to harness their talents and resources for its members and other Bosconians, and to contribute to the developmen­t of society.” The BICC Cebu has a total membership of 70 Bosconians.

The new committee chairman that will be inducted will include Atty. Kenneth Kern Sesante, a Senior Associate of Rosal, Castillo, Diaz, Bacalla, Sotto & Sotto Law Offices, for the Committee on Fellowship & Sports; Mr Melvin Judaya, Sales Manager of Adult & Child Optical, for the Committee on Training & Developmen­t; Mr. Rodrigo Sanchez, Sales Manager of Cebu Protrade Industrial Corporatio­n, for the Committee on Community Relations; and Mr. Al Ray Ubod of MAX Internatio­nal, for the Committee on Youth.

Aside from Mr. Federigan, the other officers include Engr. Emmanuel Paras, Corporate Treasurer of Shamrock Bakery & Restaurant Corporatio­n, as Vice- Chairman, Board of Trustees, and Vice-President for Internal Affairs; Mr. Mitchell Alforque, General Sales Manager of Honda Cars Cebu Inc., Vice-President for External Affairs; Atty. Chad Rodolfo Miel, Partner of Muntuerto, Miel & Duyongco Law Offices, Corporate Secretary; and Mr. Elmer Ventura, Branch Manager of Allied Bank Corporatio­n-Consolacio­n Branch, Corporate Treasurer.

The other members of the Board of Trustees include Mr. Rhosner Bollozos, Mr. Rothello Dico, Mr. Jonathan Halili, Mr. Neil Arnold Montesclar­os, Mr. Joubert Roma, Mr. Carlo Anton Suarez, and Bro Edward Villordon, SDB.
