Dimsum Frito 2003, Dewfoam ‘88 trounce foes in CECABA hoopfest
Dimsum Frito 2003 and Dewfoam '88 blasted separate foes in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Joey Catipay took matters into his own hands, firing in 34 points on top of eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals as Class 2003 slammed Wild Rice 2007, 5945, while Class '88 banked on a secondquarter explosion to crush Fil-Ann 2009, 51- 45.
Ahead by just six points at halftime, 28-22, Class 2003 staged a sizzling 17-6 rally to pad its lead to 17 points, 45- 28, entering the final 10-minute mark of the contest. The Dimsum Frito-backed squad never looked back from there on the way to notch its sixth win in eight starts.
Raymark Ryan Ong finished with 18 points, six rebounds and two assists, while Jemery Pilapil added a dozen markers for Class 2007, which crashed to its seventh loss in a row.
Earlier, Richard Yu charted 12 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two assists, while Gregorio Aguilar, Jr. added 10 points and three rebounds as Class ' 88 bettered its win- loss record to 6- 3.
After a 10- all standoff, Class ' 88 launched a cripping 24-10 attack in the second period to rip the game apart at the bend, 34-20.
Alfie Dwight Miranda Sy had 18 points, two assists and two steals, while Joseph Baluyos, Jr. added 14 points and four rebounds but their efforts went for naught as Class 2009 suffered its sixth defeat against a solitary win.
