Mayor Rama asks KTV bar: Operate in a “wholesome” manner

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama wants Las Vegas KTV bar to operate in a “wholesome” manner should he decides to reconsider the closure order.

Last December 20, the City Anti-Indecency Board ( Caib) and the City Prevention Restoration Order Beautification Enhancement ( Probe) padlocked the establishment located at North Reclamation Area following reports of lewd and obscene shows.

“If ever naay possibility to open, it has to be wholesome,” Rama said.

Though, Rama said the management should be keen and cautious on the alleged issues considering that lewd and obscene performances are violations of City Ordinance 1408.

“I am not close to the idea ( granting reconsideration) because the mayor will listen. However, I cannot be giving just for the sake of giving. Di man mahimo nga mag open mo diha tapos hubo ug tago-tago gihapon,” Rama said.

Also, Rama has reminded the people to be prudent when engaging to such doings.

“There’s always a place for everything if ganahan og inom, kanta o disco,” he said.

Last year, the bar owners filed a motion for reconsideration before the office of the mayor following the closure order.

However, Rama yesterday clarified that he did not receive yet any documents or affidavit as to the matter.

Yesterday, Las Vegas KTV bar counsel Inocencio dela Cerna visited the Mayor’s office and waited over an hour to personally ask Rama to lift the closure order but he failed to meet Rama.

Dela Cerna said that if the mayor would not reconsider his closure order, at least 100 employees excluding the contractors will lose their jobs.

Dela Cerna has assured that the incident won’t happen again.—
