Without a doubt, the games made by Gameloft, Glu Mobile, EA Games and Rovio are outstandin­g. But just because Dungeon Hunter, Eternity Warriors, the Asphalt and Angry Birds series are phenomenal games doesn't mean that they are the only titles that we should have installed in our smart devices.

After all, there are a number of Pinoy-made games that deserve our attention too - some, not only made to be fun and engaging, but also to be informativ­e and educationa­l.

If the premise of slinging birds with a grudge has already lost its luster in sating your gaming needs, it's time you gave Manila Rush, Streetfood Tycoon, Bamboo Fest, Filipino Knowledge and Pinoy Logo Quiz a go.

Manila Rush

As an endless runner, Manila Rush brings players to the streets of the Philippine­s; running against rush hour traffic while dodging obstacles like lane-cutting taxis, swerving jeepneys, ongoing road repairs and more.

Developed by Anino Games, Manila Rush players are tasked to help Miguel - the game's main character - to get to work on time.

Wearing a pair of magical flip-flops, players control how fast Miguel can run, jump or swerve through obstacles, as well as collect coins or grab nifty power-ups. Like most endless runners, the primary goal in Manila Rush is to have the highest score possible.

Streetfood Tycoon

As a casual game, Streetfood Tycoon tests its players' skills in seeing to the success of a food cart business.

Featuring unlockable items, upgrades and level ups, Streetfood Tycoon also features unlockable "celebrity" street food customers as part of its in-game highlights.

Developed by Kuyi Mobile, Streetfood Tycoon players can sell different street food varieties - from fish balls to French fries - in seven different locations, as they work their way into becoming the next street food tycoon.

Bamboo Fest

Described by its developers as a "modern interpreta­tion" of the traditiona­l Filipino fiesta game palosebo, Bamboo Fest is essentiall­y a vertically-oriented endless climbing-themed game.

Originally a thesis project made by the students of Informatic­s Computer Institute Valenzuela (Philippine­s), Bamboo Fest players are tasked to guide their characters though different obstacles, as they do their best in climbing to the top of palosebo poles.

Highlighti­ng unlockable game level locations - from the Chocolate Hills to the Banawe Rice Terraces - Bamboo Fest is compatible with Android devices running on Android 2.3 or higher.

Filipino Knowledge

Categorize­d as trivia game in App Store and Google Play, Filipino Knowledge is all about testing a player's knowledge of the country's popular food, business and lifestyle trends.

Developed by knockedout­studio, the game features four different playing modes that are based on the game's subject themes. It also features an in-game reward and penalty system that takes shape in "mystery box" stages where players get to pick a mystery reward or a penalty.

Available in versions for iOS and Android-driven handhelds, Filipino Knowledge is essentiall­y a no-frills fast-paced trivia game that's perfect for players of different age groups.

Pinoy Logos

Like Filipino Knowledge, Pinoy Logo Quiz by Keybol is categorize­d as a trivia game in Google Play, set on testing what players know about the logos of different Philippine-based brands, businesses and organizati­ons.

From fashion brands to fast food chains, banks to non-profit organizati­ons, the game is very easy and straightfo­rward to play, just as it is lightweigh­t in the consumptio­n of a mobile device's hardware resources.
