A Western Union outlet in Capitol Site, Cebu City was burglarized by an unidentified person yesterday morning.

Security guard Leonides Genonsalao discovered the shattered pieces inside upon opening the establishment around 8:15 a.m. yesterday.

Initial investigation showed that the burglar entered the establishment by ripping off the roof and destroyed the ceiling using a screw driver.

Chief Insp. David Señor, chief of the Cebu City Police Office Station 2, said the burglary attempt could have happened between 1 to 4 a.m.

While no amount was stolen from the establishment, the burglar took away a .38 cal. revolver and 17 pieces of live ammunitions issued to the security guard. “Ang tuyo gyud niya kay ang vault pero di man niya madala og bitbit. He was unprepared. Wala siya’y gamit to forcibly open the vault,” he said.

The police conducted investigation into the incident, verifying if the establishment has closed circuit television camera that could have recorded the incident.

Señor believes the crime was done by one person only.

Señor said that the Western Union branch along Osmeña Boulevard has no previous records of robbery.

Last Monday, two unidentified persons wearing ball caps and yellow shirts robbed an LBC outlet in Barangay San Nicolas Proper, Cebu City days after the robbery of its outlet in Mandaue City.
