USC firms Up top seeding in Alaska Cup

University of San Carlos ( USC) - Green cemented itself for a possible sweep of all three age groups with another win at the Alaska Basketball Cup Cebu 2014 played at the Sacred Heart SchoolAten­eo de Cebu ( SHSAdC) Mango Campus Gym over the weekend.

In the Under 13 Division 1, USC Green cruised past SHS-AdC A, 51-33, for its sixth victory in as many games. University of the Visayas (UV) also secured a semifinals berth as it stopped USJ-R, 69-32, to maintain its position at third place. USC Green is at solo first with a 60 slate, followed by Holy Spirit School of Tagbilaran (31), UV (5-2), CEC (5-2), SHSAdC A (2-3), Don Bosco A (1-5), USC Gold (0-3) and USJR (0-6).

In Under 13 Division 2 games, Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion ( CIC- M) outscored SHSAdC-B, 42-33.

In the Under 16 Division 1, University of Cebu (UC) kept its Group B semifinals hopes alive by trashing Don Bosco-A, 63-13. USC Green leads Group B with a 4-0 record, followed by SHS-AdC A (2-2), UC (1-3) and Don Bosco A (0-5). UV leads Group A at 5-0, trailed by CEC (4-1), USC Gold (2-3) and USJR (14). The top two teams of each group moves on to the crossover semifinals.

The Under 10 teams also have USC Green at the top at 5-2, followed by USJ-R (3-4), USC Gold (1-6) and SHSAdC (0-7). Excluded from all the team standings are the guest teams which aren’t qualified for the playoffs.

The ABCC 2014, a partnershi­p between Alaska Milk and the Cebu Youth Basketball League (CYBL), is composed of 48 teams playing in three age groups: Under 10, 13 and 16. This is the CYBL’s seventh season of providing basketball action for the grassroots.
