Daimler donates P350T for day care center repair
Daimler Group Services Philippines Inc. (DGSP), with its Singapore based affiliate, Daimler Financial Services Inc., recently implemented a Corporate Social Responsibility project --- repair/rehabilitation of Day Care Centers in Borbon, Cebu, which was badly hit by Typhoon Yolanda.
DGSP gave financial assistance worth Php 350,000 to the Municipal Government of Borbon for the rehabilitation of day care centers in five barangays of the town namely, Bili, Magdolinog, Bongdugua, Tabunan, Tagnucan and Kadaruhan.
Daimler Financial Services ( DFS) officers from locations and companies all over Africa and Asia Pacific, with their General Manager, Mr. Lutz Grotebrune of the Singapore Office, were on hand to turn over the funds to Borbon Mayor Bernard Sepulveda last February 25 at the Borbon gymnasium. The 39 DFS executives were accompanied by the CEO of DGSP, based in Cebu, Mr. Heiko Nitsche, and staff who participated also in the Feeding and School Supplies Distribution to the 216 day care kids who were present that afternoon.
Aside from the cash assistance and the giving out of food and goods, mascots and a magician likewise entertained the children, the politicians and the DFS visitors.
The Provincial Government of Cebu was represented by Provincial Board Member, Hon. Miguel Magpale, Provincial Administrator, Atty. Ramil Abing, as well as Borbon Vice Mayor, Hon. Noel T. Dotillos.
The DFS employees were in Cebu to conduct their Annual Management Conference and instead of organizing their usual teambuilding activities, opted to divert the funds to the CSR activity, which served as the highlight of their one-week stay in the country.
Last year, DGSP extended relief aid and financial assistance to its employees and staff, affected by both the Bohol earthquake and Super Typhoon Yolanda. DGSP provided relief goods and financial assistance and in a related initiative, organized a Children’s Party for the remaining evacuees from Tacloban and Leyte Province, temporarily housed in Tinago Evacuation Center in Cebu City.
DGSP donated roofing materials to an adopted community in Bantayan Island last January 24. On top of these local initiatives, parent company Daimler AG also made a significant donation to the German Red Cross in the amount of 500,000 Euros, immediately in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda. All these initiatives further strengthen global Daimler’s position that only businesses with conscience and a commitment to the community, will prove successful and thrive.
DFS is the finance and leasing arm of Daimler AG, German makers of automotive and truck brands Mercedes Benz, Smart, Freightliner and Mitsubishi Fuso, among others.
DGSP is a whollyowned subsidiary of the Group, established to deliver state of the art and optimal Finance and Accounting services to subsidiaries of the Group, in Africa and Asia Pacific, as well as accounting support for Europe and Germany.
