Triathlon, beach games in Bantayan Island

Another exciting action is up ahead in Bantayan Island with the staging of the Tri Team Championship Series' second leg and the Sta.Fe Beach Games at Sugar Beach Resort. Taking place on April 13, the TTCS has three events - standard, sprint and the kiddie tri.

" We have decided to hold the triathlon ahead of the Beach Games after triathletes complained on too much expenses when the race is held during the Holy Week since it's peak season," said Sugbutriathlon president Ric Dizon during the event's launching at Fuente Pension yesterday.

Early bird period for the triathlon action will be until today, but those who can't beat the deadline will have until April 4 to register at either Rudy Project in Ayala Center-Cebu or through www.sugbutriathlon.com

On the other hand, the Beach Games is set on April 17-20. It features the twilight run, open water swim and oceanman.

The five- kilometer twilight beach run is scheduled April 17, while the open water swimming competition will be staged the following day.

The categories to be contested in the open water are the 1.5K and 5K.

The 1.5K battle will be divided into six age groups - 12-under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39 and 40-above, while the 5K will have the male and female open.

The oceanman, which is a swim- run event, will be on April 19. The participants wll be dealing with a 200-meter swim then 400-meter run four times.— Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
