Sunsport basketball camp to feature new training tools

-

For the past 21 years, the Sunsport Basketball Training Camp offers an extensive training program to its students.

This year is no different. In fact, it's only getting better and more sophisticated as new training tools will be used in the 2014 edition of Cebu’s longest and bestrun cage clinic set to unfold on April 1 at the Sacred Heart Center Sports Club along D. Jakosalem Street, this city.

"Through the years, we always make it a point to give our students the best training we could offer. This time, we have new training tools that focuses on improving the agility and footwork of our aspiring basketeers. It's something that the participants should look forward to in our camp this summer," said Sunsport manager Andrew Choachuy.

Just like in the past stagings of the annual event, the camp is divided into two levels for players aged seven to 19 years old.

Training director Giovanni "Jojo" Romarate said the first phase of training is intended for the beginners. It will run until April 30, with training sessions from 8 am to 12 nn.

Those who will register for the first level will proceed outright to the second level or the advanced program. The camp will culminate with an indoor tournament to test the participants on how far have they gone through with their two-month workout.

Romarate said they will also impart to the campers some offensive and defensive strategies, on- court communication and other technical aspect of the game.

"Above all these drills, we want to instill in them the value of hardwork, discipline and teamwork as well as the spirit of sportsmanship, which is the very essence of a well-rounded athlete," Romarate stressed.

Enrollment for the first level is scheduled on March 29-30. Registration fee is pegged at P1,200 inclusive of an upper uniform, Sunsport basketball 2014 edition, and bag.
