A security guard of a supermarket in Mandaue City who claimed to be aged 17 was arrested by the police for acting suspicious inside a bus in Barangay Baclayan, Boljoon town yesterday morning.

Romulo “Moloy” Jurado, of Guihulngan, Negros Oriental, was believed to be under the influence of illegal drugs when arrested by SPO3 Procolo Ando of Boljoon Police Station inside the Ceres bus past 9 a.m.

Ando approached Jurado and found P85,000 from suspect’s possession placed inside a plastic bag.

Insp. Dexter Basirgo, Boljoon police chief, said that Ando was on board the bus for work when Jurado was also in the same bus. Ando has been keeping an eye at Jurado as the latter was acting suspiciously.

Ando then approached Jurado who reportedly felt uncomfortable upon seeing the coming officer. It was at this juncture that Ando noticed cash in P1,000 and P500 denominations inside the plastic bag of Jurado.

Ando immediately called the police station for a checkpoint operation as a means to block the bus in Barangay Baclayan where police disembarked Jurado and took him to the station.

At the interrogation conducted by the police, Jurado was found to be under the Bideda Security Agency located in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City.

Basirgo said that it was Sunday evening when Jurado and his cohort, a certain Iño, got into the Sosyoland supermarket in Barangay Centro, Mandaue City. Suspects divested around P1 million cash.

Basirgo added that Mandaue City police positively identified Jurado based on the picture they sent.

“Amo ning i- turn over ngadto nila unya sila nay mo- file sa kaso, unya ang amo supporting statement na lang,” Basirgo said.

Police are now checking if Jurado could have been involved in the robbery of the LBC remittance centers in Cebu City and Mandaue City.
