Top business ventures during Lenten season

The Lenten season is a time for reflection, penance and fasting among Catholic people. And just like any occasion, the season also means business for big-time and small-scale entreprene­urs as there are certain items that will be in demand during the season.

Selling of religious articles is just one of the profitable businesses this season of Lent as many people are buying these items to serve as gifts or visual reminders of their spiritual beliefs.

“Aside from Christmas season, Lenten season is the most saleable time for our products because people need reading materials that give spiritual nourishmen­t,” said Adoracion S. Lucas, the manager of Catholic Charismati­c Book Ministry (CCBM), a religious retail shop in Sto. Rosario Parish Church.

“It’s a time for reflection. People need to read good books--life of the saints. Since not everyone can go to a retreat this Lent, they can buy books and read it in their house--you can make your retreat everday,” she added. of different root crops and fruits.
