Man dead after gun accidental­ly fires

A resident from Bohol died after he accidental­ly shot himself while playing with a gun inside his rented house in Sitio Looc, Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City last Friday evening.

Lapu- Lapu police investigat­or identified the victim as Marlon Cajegan, 23, a native of Ubay, Bohol but temporaril­y residing at a house of Joseph Cortez.

Cajegan sustained single gunshot wound on his lower chest.

Initial investigat­ion conducted by SPO2 Merolito Abellanosa of the LapuLapu City Police disclosed that Cajegan and two other companions identified as Gerrymel Sumabong, 22 and Loui Ingkong, 20, arrived from a disco in nearby barangay of Agus where they also drunk bottles of beer.

Inside their rented room, they were watching a television show when Cajegan pulled out a firearm from his waist and played by rolling the cylinder and aimed at his body.

Police investigat­ors said that Cajegan’s friend narrated that the firearm went off and hit Cajegan’s lower chest.

The victim was rushed by his friends to Lapu-Lapu City Hospital but attending physician, Dra. Milagros Zialcita, declared him dead on arrival.

The dead body was brought to a local funeral parlor for autopsy.

Responding policemen recovered at the scene one .22 cal. revolver with six live bullets and one empty shell inside its cylinder.

Police are still conducting further investigat­ion of the incident.
