Villar to speak before IAU grads March 22
Senator Cynthia A. Villar is the Guest of Honor and Speaker of the 21st commencement exercises of Indiana Aerospace University (IAU) to be held on Saturday, March 22, 4 p.m. at the school gymnasium.
The lady senator and former representative of Las Piñas is seen as a top contender for the 2016 presidential election by no less than Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago. In a recent news report, Santiago was quoted as saying that Villar's unblemished integrity and financial clout to manage a massive political campaign makes her a strong presidential candidate in the coming election.
Aside from being a hot contender for the presidency, Sen. Villar is deemed as the perfect graduation speaker for IAU as the urbanization of Brgy. Basak, Lapu- Lapu City where the school campus is located is attributed to the massive subdivision development undertaken by the Villar family.
In a research conducted by the IAU media bureau, Airwatch, it was noted that Villar's flagship brands Camella Homes, Vistabella and Vista Land kicked start the urbanization of Brgy. Basak and brought it to unprecedented level but of course the founding of IAU in 1992 also served as engine of growth as it brings foreign and local students coming from Manila and Mindanao to the area. Villar’s housing projects in Lapu-Lapu City have greatly helped the living condition of IAU students.
According to Dr. Jovenal B. Toring, IAU President, 2014 is a fruitful year for the school because they were able to produce a total of 367 graduates. Of this number, 170 are expected by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and CHED to fill the need for commercial pilots, aerospace engineers, flight attendants, avionics engineers, and aircraft maintenance technologists. The remaining 197 are graduates from the College of Hotel and Tourism, Teachers College, Information Technology and the Diploma in Professional Education. This year’s IAU college graduates is led by Batch 2014 president, Kent Francis Sotto who will be receiving his Diploma on BS in Aviation Technology. Sotto recently completed his solo cross country flight training using the IAU training aircraft. He will join the roster of new IAU commercial pilots after his graduation.
