Local boys behind La Nueva robbery

-

Local boys were believed to be responsible in the robbery of La Nueva Supermart in Inayawan, Cebu City on Saturday afternoon.

The police based their observation in the manner the two robbers did the act, said Chief Inspector Romeo Santander, City Intelligence Branch chief.

“Local boys lang. We are validating and we are very fortunate nga naay CCTV footage so at least man lang from that point makuha nato ang identity nila,” Santander said.

One of the suspects whose face was captured by the CCTV camera after he directly stared on it during the heist.

He was described by PO3 Robert Escarlan, as a limp and was armed with a .38 revolver.

The other robber was well-groomed, wearing sunglasses, and a ball cap; and was armed with an unidentified gun.

Santander said based on the CCTV footage they already have made a profile on the suspects.

They are now coordinating with the Talisay City police following report from witnesses that the suspects riding a motorcycle fled towards the place.

Chief Insp. Alexis Relado, Pardo Police station chief, observed possible lapses on the part of the security guard Argie Vidal Batiller, 24, of GDS Security and Detective Agency and General Services.

Relado, citing standard operating procedure, said Batiller should have loaded six live ammunitions in his revolver and should have at least other six live ammos as reserve.

The security guard reportedly only has two live ammos and it was not loaded in his service firearm.

Santander however, said Relado’s observation should be addressed by the security service providers to help prevent crime.

“Kanang ingon ana nga observation dapat na macorrect sa management,” he said.

For now, Santander said the priority is to identify the suspects and to immediately solve the case. — Bryner L. Diaz/GMR
