A 28- year- old construction worker was found dead inside the restroom of his rented house after he allegedly slashed his own neck with a ceiling cutter Friday night in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Randy Distor, a native of Pangasinan, was found lying bloodied on the floor due to a lacerated neck wound. He was brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

As narrated by Rolan- do Distor, the uncle of the victim, while he and his roommates were inside their rented room, they noticed Randy go inside the restroom.

A few minutes after, they heard a loud thud coming from the restroom. They immediately went to the area to verify what the sound was and found Randy, who did not lock the door, lying on the floor.

Senior Police Officer 2 Rommel Bancog said Randy used a ceiling cutter to lacerate his own neck.

“Tigtaod man na sila og kisame gud. Unya kana’ng ceiling cutter iya’ng gigamit. Pulido man gyud kuno na nga cutter kay ingon nila bisan ang puthaw gani kuno, ma- cut man ana,” said Bancog.

Bancog added they also found a small wound on Randy’s left pulse.

“Nasakitan siguro to siya, mao to nga gilahos na lang niya sa liog,” he said.

Bancog said in his years of service, this is the first time they heard such case of a person committing suicide by slashing his own neck.

“Kana’ng hanging, magpusil sa kaugalingon, kadaghan na man ta ana. Pero kini, mura’g karon pa gyud ko ani,” said Bancog.

Based on police’s initial investigation, the victim’s relatives reportedly believe that the Randy took his own life after feeling bad when his wife and two kids left him.

“Ingon pud to iya’ng mga ka- boardmates nga pirmi kuno ni siya maghinuktok,” said Bancog.

Bancog said they called the mother of the victim and recommended for an autopsy. However, the family waived the request since they believe Randy committed suicide. “Wala mi nakita nga foul play sa mao nga insidente,” said Bancog.
