All-CDO finals in girls 18
20TH JRG GULLAS TENNIS CUP
Two visiting netters from Cagayan de Oro will face each other in the girls 18 finals of the 20th JRG Gullas Tennis Cup at Citi-Green Tennis Resort in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City yesterday.
This, after Janelle Llavore and Mary Calma hurdled their respective semifinals in contrasting fashion. Llavore tamed one of Cebu's top bets Kara Salimbagon, 6-2, 6-1, while Calma won by default over a no-show Shyne Villareal.
Calma though still has to brace for a duel against Villareal, who is expected to play in their girls 16-under semifinal match today. The other side will have Llavore opposite another Cebuana entry Elizabeth Abarquez.
The Carcar City-native Abarquez also booked a ticket to the girls 14 finals after slamming Dan Villar.
On the other hand, Tifanny Nocos got her second semis ticket after silencing Noelle Urgello, 6-0, 6-0 in the girls 12 quarterfinals. She will face next Hannah Tapic, who advanced after a hardearned 6-3, 1-6, 10-5 win against Febbie Abayan.
The other girls 12 semifinal will have Naga's Lyrah Repollo versus CDO's Farah Emata. Repollo dumped Ysabelle Gian, 6-0, 6-2, while Emata bested Danao's Noella Ramos, 6-0, 6-3.
Nocos will also figure in the unisex 10-under semis opposite Pardo's Hans Cabellon, who stayed in contention following a 4-1, 4-1 victory over Mitch Largo.
The other court will have Chad Cuizon versus Clark Trazo. Cuizon dismissed Joseph Enriquez, while Trazo subdued Maria Maravillas, 4-2, 4-0.
In the boys 12, those who punched in semis tickets already were Harlan Hogan, Clark Trazo, and Ashton Villanueva. The last slot will be a toss-up between Rupert Tortal and John Tenepre.
Hogan clobbered Josh Largo, 6-0, 6-0, Clark Trazo dumped Elijah Garcia, 6-1, 6-3, while Villanueva outsmarted Christopher Go, 6-1, 6-4.
